Immerse in the majesty of a desert plentiful in colors and scenic views, the concepts behind Alto Atacama are cordiality in service, respect for the ecosystem, and pride in fostering a destination that is unique in the world.
Surrounded by the Sal [Salt] mountain range and embedded in it, close to Pukara de Quitor [Quitor’s stronghold], Alto Atacama offers one of the most spectacular locations in the world. Noiseless, colorful and surrounded by mountainous textures.
Built in the fertile valley of Catarpe – only 3 km (1.9 miles) away from San Pedro de Atacama’s main square, it features an overall area of 3.5 hectares (8.6 acres), of which 2 are part of a natural park.
The Hotel features first-rate facilities, and it maintains and safeguards their simplicity. A full SPA and wooden decks with 6 pools, Yoga spots, outdoors whirlpool, an international bar, typical barbecue and grill area, spacious lounge with a large fireplace, and dining rooms both in and outdoors. These spaces are a projection of the attention to detail that is Alto Atacama’s seal; the hotel boasts 42 large and comfortable rooms, all of them decorated with fine local handicraft and featuring private terrace to enjoy the fantastic vistas of the valley.
Our cuisine is a mixture of Mediterranean flavors and the unique character of traditional Chilean ingredients, especially those of the Altiplano [high Andean plateau].
Excursions are a very important part of Alto Atacama; our guides will make you feel safe and comfortable in any activity you might choose. And we will only say that beauty is guaranteed in whichever outing you pick. Atacama is our world, pure and wide. We go out in small groups, so as to leave no trace.
We act humbly, respecting nature and the local culture. We are a Hotel that is thankful for and proud of promoting this destination, which has been home to the Atacameño culture for millions of years. We are moved by a commitment to the protection of cultural heritage, and we believe in the harmonious coexistence of man with its roots and with nature.
